The firm was founded by Tilak Raj Johar who qualified as a barrister of the English Bar and from June 1955 practiced as an advocate of the High Court of Kenya. He is the ex-Vice Chairman of the Equal Opportunities Committee of the Law Society and has been an active member of the Legal Aid Area Appeals Committee (now the Funding Review Committee).

He has extensive experience in many areas of law having practised as an Adcocate and Solicitor for many years. In particular he specialises in Foreign Laws (Hindu and Mohammedan), has had extensive experience in Residential and Commercial Property, purchases and sales of Businesses and also advises on Trusts and Offshore Trusts. His career has spanned more than 50 years and he has a wealth of experience.
